Let’s start simple if you want to make some changes to your health

Last night I had an enjoyable evening at a Vegan Potluck. Thank you Danny for the invite. Now I am not a vegan, in fact I do eat meat on occasion, but prefer to call myself a vegetarian that eats fish (Pesce-tarian).  Eating healthy can be easy or difficult, depending on how extreme you want to take it. I prefer to take it easy, especially if you are trying to improve your diet and health. Don’t go overboard and give up all of your favorite things.  Here are 5 simple steps to begin:
1. Reduce or eliminate  all processed foods – Yes you can do this.
2. Eat more vegetables (raw and cooked) – They are so good and easy to cook or eat raw. Have a variety.
3. Eat more Fruits – At least 3 to 5 per day. Try juicing if that works for you.
4.Eat out less – Maybe only once per week – Then you know the actual content of the food you are eating.
5.Try a new recipe at least once per week – Go online for this or your favorite magazine (Yoga Journal, or Vegetarian Times).

It is easy to choose whole grains (ie brown rice) and less processed breads and cereals. Just keep them to 1 to 2 servings per day. Raw nuts are a great source of protein and easy snack.  Eat different textures for a variety as well.

I am not a big cleansing fan. If you want to do a cleanse to clean out the pipes, you may just want to eliminate alcohol out of the diet for a week or two. I usually avoid alcohol and any sweets if I want to cleanse the body. Following the 5 steps above is a great way to begin cleansing the body without shocking it..

Bon Appetite!!
